The list of outdoor activities is nearly endless, from Nova Scotia hiking, canoeing and kayaking adventures to Nova Scotia birding, fishing and hunting excursions. There is a vast 'outdoors' to enjoy at Sable River View Cottages, from a quiet, early evening canoeing adventure on the Sable River, to a fun-filled day trip with family and friends to any one of the numerous white sandy beaches in the region.

Sable River View Cottages are nestled along the banks of the Sable River in Shelburne County, on Nova Scotia's South Shore. The cottages are surrounded by a mixed forest of maple, birch, spruce and pine trees. The large, wispy, pines scattered throughout the property, make excellent subjects for the 'budding' photographer, watercolour artist or Nova Scotia birding enthusiast.

Sable River is an excellent recreational resource. This peaceful river winds its way to the Atlantic Ocean just a few miles from the cottages creating an unique ebb and flow of tides and salty water. Sunsets are spectacular along the river; in summer the water is warm for swimming; in the late fall the sights and sounds of thousands of migrating Canada Geese are phenomenal.  The river also provides opportunities for Nova Scotia fishing, kayaking hunting, boating, informal nature walks and spontaneous family picnics.

Also nearby there are Nova Scotia hiking trails, sandy beaches and golf courses to explore, ocean kayaking adventures to consider and rare birds to observe and catalogue. Shelburne County is one of the best birding locations in Nova Scotia and three of the top destinations in the region are only a few miles away..

There are miles of Nova Scotia hiking trails at Thomas Raddall Park, Port Joli, Nova Scotia. The new Thomas Raddall Provincial Park at Port Joli, Queens County is only 20 minutes from Sable River View Cottages as are numerous other provincial parks, picnic and recreational facilities. The Thomas Raddall Park is one of the finest, wilderness parks in eastern Canada with miles of unique wilderness trails and sandy shores to explore.

The outdoor recreational opportunities, the numerous summer festivals and concerts, craft shops, museums, fine restaurants and the historic town of Shelburne all combine to make  Sable River View Cottages  the perfect destination for a family holiday, romantic rendez-vous or weekend getaway.
